‘We Don’t Want a Mole’: APC Chieftain Raises Alarm Over Atiku’s Son’s Defection

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has sent a stern warning to Abubakar “Abba” Atiku, following his decision to join the ruling party.

Abba is the son of former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a heavyweight in the opposition.

The younger Atiku officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC on January 15, 2026.

While the move has been viewed by some as a major political gain for the ruling party, Igbokwe expressed deep-seated reservations about the sincerity of the defection.

In a recent social media statement, the Lagos-based politician made it clear that while the party is open to new members, there is no room for double agents.

He cautioned the leadership of the APC to be vigilant, suggesting that the entry of a high-profile opposition figure’s son could be a strategic plant rather than a genuine shift in ideology.

Igbokwe, who is known for his outspoken defense of the APC, wrote: “I hear that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s son has joined APC. I hope it is real oooo. We do not want a mole in the house oooo. Ka fi suru oooooo.”

His comments reflect a growing concern among party loyalists regarding the influx of defectors from the PDP and opposition parties, as the 2027 general elections begin to take shape.

Igbokwe’s use of the Yoruba phrase “Ka fi suru” underscores a call for caution and patience in integrating new members who have deep ties to the opposition.
