Police debunks report of abduction of over 100 worshippers in Kaduna

The Police in Kaduna State have debunked reports on the abduction of over 100 worshippers during an attack on two different churches in Kajuru Local Government Area.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, while addressing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting, described the report as misleading.

Recall that the chairman of the Northern Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), John Hayab had said that some bandits invaded the Cherubim and Seraphim Church 1 and Cherubim and Seraphim Church 2 in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru LGA and abducted some worshippers.

According to Hayab, 163 worshippers from both churches are still in captivity.

However, in his reaction, Rabiu said the report was orchestrated by entrepreneurs of conflict bent on causing chaos in Kaduna state.

He further challenged the leadership of CAN to come forward with details of the abduction, including names and particulars of those abducted.

The police also warned individuals and groups in the state to desist from spreading unverified reports, especially those that could jeopardise the state’s security.
