BREAKING: Northern PDP Chairmen Endorse Presidential Candidate for 2027 Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmen from the North Central states have thrown their weight behind a former presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Hashim for the 2027 election.
Politics Nigeria reports that the party leaders met on Wednesday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, under the aegis of the North Central PDP Chairmen’s Forum.
During the high-level session, they described Dr. Hashim as a bridge-builder and a “unifying force” whose leadership is essential for protecting the country’s multiparty democracy and restoring the party’s lost glory.
In a communique released at the end of the deliberations, the chairmen pledged their “unalloyed support” for Dr. Hashim, citing his track record of intervening in party affairs both within the zone and across Nigeria.
Alhaji Adamu Bako Ningi, the Nasarawa State PDP Chairman and spokesperson for the Forum, explained that the decision was rooted in Dr. Hashim’s consistent loyalty.
He noted that the aspirant’s support has been instrumental in keeping state chapters functional, particularly in funding statutory meetings and ensuring administrative compliance with the party’s constitution.
The Forum further emphasized their resolve by stating they would stand by him “come rain, come shine” as he seeks to lead a national transformation.
The meeting was well-attended by key state party bosses and stakeholders.
Beyond the endorsement, the leaders restructured their zonal leadership to ensure better coordination ahead of the next election cycle.
Rt. Hon. Ezekiel A. Adaji was elected as the Chairman of the Forum, while Alhaji Adamu Bako Ningi will serve as Secretary. Hon. Ismaila Mohammed Dogara took the role of Public Relations Officer.
The Forum concluded by assuring all party members and future aspirants that the North Central remains a PDP stronghold.
They promised a level playing field for all but maintained that Dr. Hashim’s vision currently aligns best with the region’s aspirations for 2027.
