Senate’s Rejection of E-Transmission of Results a Plot to Rig 2027 Election — Dino Melaye

Former lawmaker and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Senator Dino Melaye Esq, has raised serious concerns over the Senate’s recent rejection of electronic transmission of election results, describing the move as a “clear endorsement of election rigging.”

In a statement on Friday, Melaye criticised the decision, saying it undermines the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process and opens the door for manipulation and fraud.

He warned that the rejection of electronic results transmission represents a significant step backward for democracy in the country.

“Lawmakers and citizens must stand up against this blatant attempt to undermine the will of the people and ensure that future elections are free, fair, and transparent,” Melaye said in his statement, also shared on his X handle, where he cautioned of dire consequences if the matter is not addressed.

The former senator’s remarks have sparked widespread debate across Nigeria, with many expressing concerns about the implications of the Senate’s decision as the 2027 elections approach.

Some Nigerians also stated that the rejection of electronic transmission could raise questions about the integrity and credibility of future polls, putting pressure on the government and electoral bodies to ensure transparency.
