“The power of fraudsters” – Sowore slams Trump for recognising Remi Tinubu at prayer breakfast

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has condemned the president of the United States of America Donald Trump for recognising Nigerian First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu at the Washington DC Prayer Breakfast on Thursday.
Sowore in a post made on his social media accounts described Trump’s action towards Nigeria’s First Lady as “shameless hypocrisy”.
Recall that during the prayer breakfast in the US, Trump had acknowledged Mrs Tinubu’s presence among key global faith leaders present at the event.
The prayer breakfast is an event that brings together clerics, policymakers and political leaders for prayers and deliberation on actionable points on leadership and good governance.
Speaking at the event, recognised Mrs Tinubu as a pastor in Nigeria’s biggest church.
He said, “We are honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria — a very respected woman.
“Thank you very much, it’s a great honour, a very respected person too,” Trump said.
His remark comes weeks after the US government had accused Nigeria under the leadership of Bola Tinubu of being complacent in the alleged killing of Christians by the Islamic jihadists.
The US government had also deployed what it described as “small troops” to help the Nigerian government in the fight against terrorism, banditry and the Christian genocide across the country.
However, reacting to Trump’s speech Sowore said, “Oh I heard it, it is exactly the kind of shameless hypocrisy that defines global American politics today.
Donald Trump praising “singing” Remi Tinubu at his Washington DC prayer breakfast is not faith, Trump has no faith in anything but the power of money.
“Trump and his business neocons scream “Christian genocide!” for propaganda purposes, but the moment money changes hands, the “perpetrators” suddenly become VIP guests receiving standing ovations.
“That’s the power of fraudsters, they weaponise religion when it helps them, then auction the same religion to the highest bidder,” Sowore wrote on X.
