JUST IN: President Tinubu in Closed-door meeting with High-Level US Military Delegation [PHOTOS]

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday received a high-level delegation from the United States led by the Commander of the U.S. Africa Command, General Dagvin R. Anderson, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, held at the State House, Abuja, brought together Nigeria’s top security leadership, including the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and senior service chiefs.

Also in attendance were senior members of the U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) delegation and the Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, Keith Heffern.

Confirming the engagement in a statement, the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, said the discussions focused on strategic security cooperation between both countries, particularly in the context of Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism and transnational threats.

Although details of the closed-door talks were not disclosed, the visit comes amid heightened security collaboration between Abuja and Washington. It follows reports that the United States recently deployed a small contingent of troops to Nigeria on February 3, marking the first officially acknowledged U.S. military presence on Nigerian soil since American airstrikes targeted terrorist enclaves in the country on Christmas Day 2025.

Security analysts view the meeting as part of renewed efforts to strengthen intelligence sharing, capacity building, and joint counter-terrorism operations as Nigeria confronts persistent insurgency and regional instability across parts of the country and the wider Sahel.
