Shock as 62 year Old Trader swallows 95 Wraps of Cocaine, intercepted by NDLEA [PHOTOS]

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a 62-year-old Lagos-based businessman, Nwabueze Nicholas Izueke, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport for attempting to smuggle cocaine to China.
Izueke was apprehended on Saturday, January 31, 2026, during the outward clearance of passengers bound for China via Addis Ababa. He was travelling on an Ethiopian Airlines flight, ET940, when NDLEA operatives flagged him for further checks.
A body scan conducted on the suspect revealed the presence of foreign objects consistent with ingested narcotics. He was immediately placed under close medical observation, during which he expelled a total of 95 jumbo-sized wraps of cocaine in seven separate excretions. The illicit substance was later confirmed to weigh 1.589 kilograms.
Preliminary investigations showed that the cocaine had been concealed internally in a bid to evade airport security screening. NDLEA sources said the method indicated a high-risk trafficking attempt, especially given the suspect’s age.
During interrogation, Izueke told investigators that he is involved in clothing and auto spare parts trading in Lagos. He reportedly admitted that he turned to drug trafficking in a desperate attempt to raise funds to complete a house he is building in his hometown of Iwollo, Enugu State.
The NDLEA said the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. The agency reiterated its warning that traffickers, regardless of age or status, will face the full weight of the law.
