Remi Tinubu Hails US Airstrikes in Northern Nigeria as a “Blessing,” Urges Trump to Order More

First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has described the Christmas Day military strikes ordered by US President Donald Trump as a blessing to Nigeria.
“Nigeria is looking forward to collaboration… We are expecting that there will be more,” she said in an interview with Fox News on Friday during her visit to the United States.
Asked specifically about the US airstrikes on terrorists in Sokoto, Mrs Tinubu added, “It was quite a blessing.”
The First Lady had attended the National Prayer Breakfast with Mr Trump on Thursday, where the former US president praised her.
This came months after President Bola Tinubu’s government reportedly spent millions of dollars on Republican lobbyists to improve his reputation in Washington, following Mr Trump’s 2025 comments calling Nigeria “a disgrace” under his leadership.
In January, Trump had warned that airstrikes in northern Nigeria would continue as long as terrorists and bandits targeted Christians.
“I’d love to make it a one-time strike,” he said, “but if they continue to kill Christians, it will be a many-time strike.”
On Christmas Day, Trump announced that the US military carried out a series of airstrikes against terrorist targets in northern Nigeria, marking the first kinetic action by American forces in the West African nation.
The announcement followed reports that the US had been conducting intelligence-gathering flights over Nigerian airspace since November, after Trump threatened military action to eliminate terrorists targeting Christians.
He described the military strikes as a gift, underscoring America’s commitment to combating terrorism abroad.
