BREAKING: Nigerian Govt Deploys Soldiers to National Assembly Over NASS Protest

The Federal Government has reportedly authorized the immediate deployment of military personnel to the National Assembly complex in Abuja.

This drastic move follows a massive surge in demonstrations by citizens who have occupied the main entrances to the legislative building.

Armed soldiers were seen taking strategic positions around the Three Arms Zone early this morning.

According to reports made available, the security presence is aimed at maintaining order and protecting the lawmakers who are currently in session.

These demonstrations gained momentum following the Senate’s recent stance on the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2025.

Many Nigerians are frustrated over the exclusion of a clause that would mandate the real-time electronic transmission of election results.

The protesters, led by various civil society groups and political figures, argue that this omission threatens the transparency of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

As of the time of this report, all major roads leading to the National Assembly remain cordoned off.

Despite the military presence, the crowd of protesters continues to grow, chanting slogans and waving placards that demand “Electoral Reform Now.”
