“The will of the people has prevailed” – APC senator hails Senate move on electronic transmission

Senator Lawal Adamu Usman representing Kaduna central, has hailed the Senate’s decision to revisit the Electoral Act to provide for real-time electronic transmission of election results from polling units.
Usman said the amendment allows manual transmission only where electronic transmission fails.
“I am pleased to have been part of the senate’s decision to revisit the Electoral Act by expressly providing for real-time electronic transmission of election results directly from polling units, with manual transmission applicable only where electronic transmission fails,” he said.
He said the decision would strengthen transparency and enhance the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process.
“This important step strengthens transparency, enhances the credibility of our electoral process, and reflects the collective aspiration of Nigerians for free, fair, and credible elections,” Usman said.
The senator said the decision showed lawmakers were responsive to public demands.
“It demonstrates our commitment as legislators to listening to the people and strengthening our democracy,” he said.
Usman added that he would continue to support legislative actions aimed at protecting voters’ mandates.
“I remain committed to supporting legislative actions that protect the mandate of the Nigerian voter and deepen democratic governance,” he said.
