2027: ‘If You’re Popular, Approve E-Transmission of Results’ — APC Chieftain Challenges Tinubu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has called on President Bola Tinubu to permit real-time electronic transmission of election results ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eze said the issue of e-transmission has become a test of the President’s confidence in his popularity.
He questioned why a leader who insists he won the 2023 presidential election would resist a system designed to promote transparency.
According to him, the 2027 election will determine the future of Nigeria’s democracy and must be conducted with credibility.
He described the poll as a chance for Nigerians to free themselves from what he called the burden of poor governance and unpopular policies under the current administration.
“The 2027 poll is all about liberating Nigerians from the shackles of bad governance occasioned by obnoxious and anti people’s policies of the Tinubu-led APC administration.
“Even with the coercion of almost all the governors into the ruling party, Mr President has continued to lose sleep over the general election and is doing everything humanly possible to win the 2027 presidential election,” Eze said.
He also reacted to the public outrage that followed the Senate’s position against electronic transmission of results.
Eze praised Nigerians for speaking out and resisting any move that could weaken the electoral process.
“Today, I am so happy that Nigerians are now ready to rescue our democracy and our country from those that feel they have occupied and conquered Nigeria,” he stated.
Eze further commended former Rivers State governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for standing with citizens who protested at the National Assembly.
He stressed that the power to determine how elections are conducted belongs to the people, not to political leaders.
“It is not about Tinubu choosing what he wants in terms of the conduct of the 2027 general elections, but what Nigerians want in ensuring a seamless, free and fair election.
“Anybody that is against the adoption of electronic transmission or transfer of election results real time in this modern day Nigeria, is an enemy of democracy.
“We cannot continue to recycle ignorance and mediocrity in the name of using archaic methods in conducting an election when technology can help us get it right, at least for once,” he added.
Politics Nigeria had earlier reported growing pressure from civil society groups and opposition figures urging the National Assembly to amend the Electoral Act to guarantee electronic transmission of results before the 2027 polls.
