I Wouldn’t Be Governor Without Him — Fubara Praises Wike for Political Support

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has acknowledged that he would not have become governor without the backing of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, expressing appreciation for providing him the platform to contest the office.

Fubara made the remark on Friday while receiving the Man of the Year Award from New Telegraph.

According to him, Wike’s decision to identify and support him brought him into prominence and shaped his political journey.

The governor’s comments come despite the ongoing rift between both leaders.

Speaking at the ceremony, Fubara said he was dedicating the award to the FCT minister, whom he described as the person who discovered him, regardless of the current situation.

“I don’t care how it is interpreted or misinterpreted. I dedicate this award to the Honourable Minister of the FCT, my oga, Nyesom Wike,” he said.

“Without him, I wouldn’t be standing here as governor. He discovered me, and that discovery gave me the voice I have today. Thank you for everything.

“I also dedicate this award to the people of Rivers State for their support, calmness and maturity that have brought us this far.”
