Super Eagles Coach Chelle Demands $130,000 Monthly, Lists 19 Conditions to Stay

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has submitted a fresh set of conditions to the Nigeria Football Federation as talks over his contract extension continue.

The proposal places his monthly pay at $130,000 and outlines 19 requirements he wants fulfilled before agreeing to remain in charge of Nigeria’s national team.

Chelle, who signed a two-year deal in January 2025 with an optional extra year, has recently been linked with a possible move to Olympique de Marseille. His new demands are seen as part of efforts to secure improved working conditions in Nigeria.

The document was reportedly submitted on January 22, 2026. It followed what was described as a careful review and verification process by sports journalist Shina Oludare.

Under the proposal, the $130,000 monthly salary would cover Chelle, his technical crew and his personal assistant. He also requested monthly meetings involving all national team coaches.

Among the listed conditions are the provision of a private SUV with a driver and security, and a house in a secure location with constant electricity. Chelle also asked for a furnished office equipped with a projector for tactical analysis and reliable internet access.

The coach further requested flight tickets for his wife and two children, GPS tools for player monitoring, and training equipment that meets his technical standards.

Other points include full control over the choice of international friendly matches based on opponents, and the right to design camping programmes for players.

Chelle also wants authority to create youth development programmes and to travel abroad regularly to monitor Nigerian players based overseas. He proposed similar travel within the country to scout talents from the local league for the senior team and age-grade squads.

One of the strongest demands in the list is a clause barring interference in team selection and player call-ups. He also requested official working contracts for his staff.

Payment terms were clearly stated. Salaries must be paid on or before the 30th of every month. Bonuses and allowances should follow federation rules, with his personal assistant included in that structure.

The final point in the proposal calls for a monthly coordination meeting between Chelle and all national team coaches.

So far, the NFF has not made any official statement on whether it will accept or reject the conditions.
