You Have Lived Up to Expectations — Osinbajo Hails Gov Otti’s People-Centred Leadership

Ex-Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has praised Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, for what he called “purposeful, people-centred leadership” that is repositioning the state for sustainable growth and prosperity.
During a visit to the governor on Wednesday, which coincided with Otti’s birthday, Osinbajo commended his performance in office, highlighting that the true value of public service lies in making meaningful impacts on the lives of citizens.
“I am extremely proud of the work you have done so far. You have lived up to expectations — not only to the people but also to your friends and associates. In the short time I have been here, I have seen tangible evidence of progress,” he said.
Osinbajo specifically lauded Otti’s social welfare initiatives, including his assent to the Senior Citizens’ Law, describing the measure as “exemplary and rooted in compassion and social responsibility,” and stressing that effective welfare systems are grounded in care for the vulnerable.
He also praised the governor’s efforts in road infrastructure renewal and improved statewide connectivity, calling these projects “visible symbols of results-driven leadership.”
Reflecting on the demands of leadership, Osinbajo remarked on the challenge of translating electoral success into tangible outcomes.
“Sometimes you wonder whether, after all the efforts to get into office, leaders can fulfill their promises.
“But in your case, you have not just done what you promised, but even more. You have made public service worthwhile,” he added.
He prayed for Otti to receive renewed strength, wisdom, and divine favour as he continues to serve the state.
In response, Otti welcomed Osinbajo warmly, describing him as “a brother, friend and mentor.”
He clarified that the meeting was not a formal birthday celebration, noting that he rarely marks such occasions publicly while in office. Otti expressed appreciation to those who came voluntarily and reaffirmed his focus on modesty and service.
“Governance is about the people, their welfare, their safety and their peace of mind. If you enter the office for any other reason, you miss the essence of leadership.”
Otti also commended security agencies for their dedication, stating, “We are grateful to the men and women who stay awake so that our people can sleep in peace.”
