JUST IN: “Mobility Is Essential” — Zamfara Governor Gifts 40 Cars to Imams

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, on Friday, presented cars to 40 Jumma’at Mosque imams as part of the state government’s effort to support their commitment to religious duties.
Lawal said the donation was intended to improve the mobility of the clerics and enhance their preaching and outreach across communities.
“We are constructing mosques and houses for Imams, and we also feel it is important for them to move freely,” he said.
“Mobility is essential, especially for preaching and community engagements. That is why we have selected 40 Imams in this first phase to receive vehicles to ease their movement.”
The governor noted that Zamfara is a state built on strong Islamic principles, with numerous imams serving communities across all 14 local government areas.
He stressed that supporting the welfare of religious leaders remains a priority of his administration and promised the initiative would continue, describing the current donation as the programme’s first phase.
Lawal also urged the clerics to pray for lasting peace in Zamfara and across Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Sheikh Bello Almufty, praised Lawal as a leader committed to truth, justice, and inclusive development.
He said the governor’s administration had transformed the lives of religious leaders by providing tangible benefits, including improved welfare packages and allowances for imams.
Sheikh Atiku Zawiyya, representing the imams, thanked Lawal for the support. “This donation will strengthen the activities of Imams towards their service to the people,” he said.
He prayed that the governor would continue the gesture, noting that such good deeds deserved prayers and Allah’s blessings.
The beneficiary imams expressed gratitude to the state government and pledged to promote peace, unity, and moral values across their communities.
