FCT Polls: ADC Chairmanship Candidate Blames Movement Restrictions for Low Voter Turnout

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairmanship candidate for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dr. Moses Paul, on Saturday raised concerns over the alleged intimidation of his party’s agents and attributed low voter turnout in parts of the council to movement restrictions.
Speaking at his polling unit, Paul said voter participation was far below expectations.
He linked the situation to what he described as confusion caused by the movement restriction directive.
Having lived in AMAC for nearly 40 years, Paul said he had never experienced such circumstances, likening the situation to “a state of emergency” over what he deemed unnecessary.
Despite these challenges, he praised electoral officials at his polling unit for their professionalism and adherence to due process.
He further claimed that ADC agents in Takum Shara and areas of Kabusa Ward, including Dogongada and Shereti, were reportedly threatened and intimidated.
Paul also condemned vote-buying as a criminal act, alleging that it was occurring in parts of the capital city.
“Despite the challenges, I remain confident of emerging victorious. The will of the people will prevail. Nigerians should resist intimidation and demand accountable leadership,” he said.
