JUST IN: APC names sub-committees for 2026 national convention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the composition of sub-committees for its 2026 national convention.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Barr. Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the party, said the committees are mandated to coordinate operational, administrative, electoral, logistics, security and programme activities for the convention.

The party said the move is part of preparations to ensure a transparent and credible exercise.

Governor Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti will chair the aspirants’ screening committee, with Kogi governor, Usman Ododo as co-chairman and ex-Senate President Ken Nnamani as vice-chairman.

Jigawa governor, Umar Namadi will head the screening appeal committee, alongside Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi and ex-national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Former Katsina governor, Aminu Bello Masari will chair the election committee, with ex-Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Governors Uba Sani and Monday Okpebholo serving in leadership roles.

The election appeal committee will be chaired by Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba, with Governors Siminalayi Fubara and Abba Kabir Yusuf of Rivers and Kano respectively, as co-chairman and vice-chairman.

Governor Hope Uzodimma will chair the finance committee, while Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Finance minister Olawale Edun will serve as co-chairman and vice-chairman.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio will head the ceremonial, programme and events committee, alongside Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and SGF George Akume.

The delegates’ accreditation committee will be chaired by Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno, with Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin in supporting roles.

Yobe governor, Mai Mala Buni will chair the media and publicity committee.

The party urged committee members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence and in adherence to its constitution and approved guidelines.

The APC said it remains committed to conducting a credible and transparent national convention that strengthens internal democracy and consolidates its progressive ideals.
