Amotekun arrests five armed bandits in Ekiti state

The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps says it has arrested five suspected gunmen who allegedly arrived in the state on Tuesday.
Adeleye Adewale, communications officer of the corps, said the suspects were apprehended on February 25 in Ekiti West LGA, with weapons and other items recovered from them.
Adewale identified the suspects as Abdulahi Makana, 28; Shuaba Ibrahim, 25; Adamu Muhammed, 25; Shlibu Umar, 31; and Aruna Yahaya, 28.
He said the suspects, said to be from the northern part of the country, were intercepted by Amotekun operatives in the Itawure area as they alighted from a vehicle.
His words: “The five suspects were seen alighting from a vehicle at a motor park in front of a church along Itawure Road.
Following a report by indigenes, the Amotekun Command promptly moved to the scene. Fortunately, the suspects were all arrested, and dangerous weapons were recovered from them.”
Adewale said the items recovered include two locally made guns, one axe, one daga (local sword), two dogs, five mobile phones and assorted charms.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects claimed to be farmers but provided no evidence to substantiate their claims,” he added.
He said the suspects and the recovered items have been handed over to the Ekiti West police command for further investigation and appropriate action.
