“APC will have problem if Shettima is replaced” – Millet farmers warn

The leadership of the Milliet Farmers Association has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will have a problem should the party fail to field Kashim Shettima as its vice presidential candidate in the 2027 general election.
Umar Abdullahi, the National President of the association while speaking in an interview described Shettima as a loyal politician who has delivered on all fronts.
He said that with Shettima in government as President Bola Tinubu’s vice, there is hope and lots of expectations for farmers across the country.
“Look at Asiwaju, Number 2 man presenting our problems to the number one, the president of the Federal Republic. So, we are asleep, if Kashim Shettima is there because we know a lot of things have started and very soon we will get to where we will be smiling,” Abdullahi stated.
He also noted that the status quo – President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima on the APC’s ticket – must be maintained.
According to Abdullahi, there is no political strategy that would give the APC any better result than a Tinubu/ Shettima ticket.
“So, we want that strategy, I still repeat, that strategy to be maintained; the status quo must be maintained because there is no basis for changing Kashim. Kashim is still loyal, Kashim is still capable, and Kashim is discharging the duties of the Office of the Vice President successfully.
“So there is no reason, to our understanding why he should be replaced,” he added.
Asked what would happen should the ruling party led by President Tinubu fail to adopt Shettima in the 2027 Presidential election, Abdullahi said, “APC will have a problem”.
“You see, we are not politicians, we don’t need to tell lies. You see, this is my first time coming before a camera in my life. So the APC will have problems because a lot of farmers will not vote APC.
“The Muslim-muslim voters who voted because of the Muslim-muslim ticket will also not vote for APC because if you want to replace somebody, you’ll have to tell the people what wrong he has done that requires his replacement,” the farmer noted.
He further noted that to the best of his knowledge, Shettima has done no wrong and has continued to represent the people even in international gatherings.
