“FCT results show the capacity of our party to deliver” – APC Chairman boasts

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, on Wednesday said that the outcome of the Federal Capital Territory area council polls and the bye-elections in Rivers and Kano State demonstrate the party’s capacity to deliver.

Yilwatda claimed that the ruling party is the most reliable political platform for any politician seeking elective positions across the nation.

Speaking during the inauguration of sub-committee members ahead of the party’s convention scheduled to take place on March 27 and 26, Yilwatda said the party’s structure is working with the National Working Sub-Committee to ensure a successful convention.

According to Yilwatda, the APC National Convention is not merely a political gathering but an affirmation of the party’s democratic values.

He also described the convention as a celebration of the party’s effort in maintaining an enviable internal democracy.

He said, “It is an affirmation of our democratic values, a celebration of our internal democracy, and a demonstration to Nigerians that the APC remains the most organised, forward-looking, and viable political party for anyone seeking to contest elections in Nigeria.

According to the APC national chairman, these attributes were made visible during the just-concluded elections in the FCT, Rivers and Kano states.

“Just last weekend, in the FCT election, we secured five out of six seats. In the by-elections that produced two House of Assembly members in Kano, we won both seats, and in Rivers, we secured four out of four for the APC. Out of 65 councillorship positions, we won 45.

“This demonstrates the capacity of our party to deliver. It also puts to rest the noise from the opposition claiming that Abuja belongs to them. We have demonstrated that there is no presence of the so-called coalition in the states where the elections were conducted,” Yilwatda stated.

He further called on all members of the committee to understand the responsibility handed to them and ensure they leverage their experiences to deliver their duties.
