“Authorities must redouble their efforts” – Atiku reacts to killings in Adamawa

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Friday, reacted to the recent killing of over 20 people in a community in Adamawa State.

Atiku who hails from Adamawa called on relevant authorities of the government to redouble their efforts in safeguarding the lives and properties of the people.

Recall that some suspected terrorists had launched an attack in a market in Madagali and Hong Local Government Areas killing over 20 people.

According to eyewitnesses, the twin attacks were suspected to have been carried out by members of the Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Some local reports said at least 25 persons were killed as the terrorists torched homes late on Tuesday and Wednesday inKirchinga in Madagali district and Garaha in neighbouring Hong respectively.

Reacting in a post, the former vice president said, “I am deeply moved by the tragic attacks in Adamawa State, where gunmen killed over 20 people in a market in Madagali and Hong local government areas.”

He also stated that these attacked mirrors the challenge of insecurity faced by residents in the North East region of the country.

“The attack not only highlights the worsening insecurity in the country but also deepens the North-East crisis.

“I urge the authorities to redouble their efforts to address this menace, ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice, and strengthen security to prevent future attacks,” Atiku said.
