BREAKING: Court Validates 2025 PDP National Convention in Ibadan

An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has upheld the validity of the 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The convention was held in Ibadan in November 2025 and produced new national officers for the opposition party.
Justice Ladiran Akintola of Court 5 delivered the judgment on Friday after ruling on an application for joinder filed in the case.
In his decision, the judge affirmed that the convention was properly convened and conducted in line with the PDP constitution and relevant electoral guidelines.
The suit was filed by Folahan Malomo Adelabi, who approached the court through his counsel, Musbau Adetunmbi, seeking multiple reliefs over the legality of the convention and its outcomes.
Justice Akintola granted all 13 reliefs presented by the claimant, effectively validating the process and resolutions reached at the convention.
The court also dismissed objections raised against the convention, stating that no sufficient evidence was provided to prove any breach of procedure or internal party regulations.
With the ruling, the leadership elected at the Ibadan convention now stands legally recognised, ending weeks of uncertainty surrounding the exercise.
Party officials present in court described the judgment as a victory for internal democracy and the rule of law.
They noted that the ruling would allow the party to focus on reconciliation and preparations ahead of future elections.
