“What we fought during Jonathan’s govt is now worse under Tinubu” – Atiku laments

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has decried the state of affairs across Nigeria under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking at the joint press conference by opposition leaders in Abuja on Thursday, Atiku said that everything he and some political leaders fought against during the Goodluck Jonathan administration has become worse in the present dispensation.
Noting that he was part of the people who founded the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku said the party emerged to right some of the wrongs affecting the nation’s democracy.
“You see, we did this exercise in 2014, we came together to form APC because we felt democracy was faulty in 2014, only for us to end up in the same position we found ourselves in 2014 and even worse.
“In 2014, the major challenges were insecurity here and there, the economy and so on and so forth. Now, it’s even worse than what we fought in 2014,” Atiku said.
A member of the coalition party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), the former vice president he is hopeful that the opposition will succeed in ousting Tinubu’s government.
He also urged the Nigerian populace to work with the opposition to ensure that the nation’s democracy is restored.
“So, we must have that in mind that in the event, and we just succeed; to make sure that we restore true democracy to our country,” he said.
