Ebonyi Governor Nwifuru Suspends Two Commissioners Over Poor Performance

Francis Nwifuru has suspended two members of his cabinet over what he described as “dereliction of duties.”
The affected officials are the Commissioner for Works, Stanley Mbam, and the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development for Concession, Mr. Obasi.
The decision was announced in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Monday Uzor, on Saturday.
According to the statement, the governor ordered both commissioners to immediately hand over all government property in their custody.
This includes their official vehicles and other state-owned items.
They were directed to submit these properties to the Secretary to the State Government without delay.
“This directive is with immediate effect,” the statement read.
The suspension follows growing public complaints over the slow pace and poor execution of several government projects across Ebonyi State.
Residents in different parts of the state have raised concerns about abandoned road works and delayed infrastructure projects.
Some of these projects were meant to ease transportation and boost economic activities in rural and urban communities.
Government sources said the action was taken to reinforce discipline and ensure accountability among top officials.
The governor has repeatedly stressed that his administration will not tolerate negligence or failure to meet performance expectations.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality projects that will improve the living conditions of the people.
