After dumping APGA, Abia lawmaker pitches tent with Otti in LP

The lawmaker representing Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Alex Ikwechegh, has officially joined the Labour Party.
Ikwechegh joined the Labour Party days after his resignation from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Saturday, February 28.
Popularly known as Onyeocha N’Aba, the lawmaker confirmed that he pitched his tent with the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti in the Labour Party.
POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that Ikwechegh met with the Abia governor in a closed-door meeting on Tuesday, March 3.
Speaking after meeting with Otti in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State, Ikwechegh said he decided to join the Labour Party because he believes it is the right platform for his political ideologies.
He said that his decision was also influenced by the visible transformation and infrastructural development carried out by Otti in the state.
His words, “Well, I visited the governor this evening to receive his blessings.
“As you may or may not know, I have received my Labour Party card as a new member of the party,” Ikwechegh said.
Further dismissing claims of his possible alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially after his meeting with President Bola Tinubu, the lawmaker commended the Labour Party leadership under Nenadi Usman and Darlington Nwokocha.
Ikwechegh added that politics should never be about intimidation or self-aggrandisement but for the sole purpose of serving the people and uplifting the nation.
