“I Have No Anointed Candidates Ahead of APC Primaries” — Kaduna Gov Sani

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has stated that he does not have any preferred aspirants for elective positions in the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, urging candidates to rely on popular support from party members.
The governor made the disclosure on Tuesday night while breaking the Ramadan fast with members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, stressing that he will not interfere with the primaries or the selection of APC flag bearers in the state.
“My advice to every aspirant seeking any office is to get the support of party members. I have no anointed candidates in the coming primaries that will take place between April and May this year. I will abide by what the people decide,” he said.
Governor Sani noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is his only candidate and pledged to support his reelection in the 2027 presidential election.
He also urged aspirants who lose the primaries to remain loyal to the party, warning that working against APC would be counterproductive.
Recalling his experience in a previous APC congress where many of his supporters were denied party positions, the governor said, “At that time, some people wanted me to work against the party. I told them that I wouldn’t work against the house I helped to build.
“As God will have it, I’m the governor today. I advise every party member to work for the victory of APC. The opposition will try to instigate some members, especially after the primaries because our party is the only party that is still standing. We should resist this temptation. The party belongs to all of us.”
Governor Sani further cautioned that the opposition would exploit security challenges to campaign against APC in the 2027 general elections, arguing that they have no alternative solutions.
He highlighted improvements in Kaduna State’s security since his administration assumed office in 2023, while acknowledging there is still room for progress.
He also recounted developmental initiatives, including the reopening of 535 schools and 85 health facilities that had been closed due to insecurity.
The governor disclosed ongoing infrastructure projects, such as the construction of the 35-kilometre Bagoma-Gagumi road, which will connect 62 farming communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, and a contract awarded for the Mando-Birnin Gwari road.
