Lagos APC Postpones Exco Inauguration After Death of Newly Elected Official

The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State has postponed the inauguration of its newly elected state executives following the death of the party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary-elect, Yesiro Karamo.
Karamo reportedly died on Wednesday, hours after attending the Lagos APC congress held on Tuesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Onikan, where he was elected Assistant Publicity Secretary.
The Lagos APC confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo.
“The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro,” the statement read.
The party described his passing as a painful loss, noting that his energy and commitment to progressive politics would be greatly missed.
“Having just been entrusted with the responsibility of serving in the State Executive Council, he embodied dedication, loyalty and an unwavering belief in the ideals of our party,” the statement added.
Party members and supporters had gathered at the APC secretariat in Acme, Ogba, on Thursday morning for the scheduled inauguration before learning that the event had been postponed in honour of the deceased.
Following the announcement, party leaders visited the family of the late Karamo to offer condolences.
Sources within the party later indicated that the inauguration of the executives had been rescheduled for Friday.
The newly elected state executive committee, which will serve a four-year term, is led by Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi.
