NNPP Cautions Kano Assembly Over Impeachment Move Against Deputy Governor

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has urged the Kano State House of Assembly to exercise caution over moves to remove the state’s elected deputy governor.
The party gave the warning in a statement issued on Thursday by its Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Karaye.
In the statement, the NNPP noted that amid ongoing political realignments and defections, lawmakers should acknowledge that an elected official cannot be compelled to take decisions that contradict his personal principles.
The party also advised the Kano State Government to avoid actions that could trigger an unnecessary political crisis in the state.
According to the NNPP, the political atmosphere in Kano is already delicate, and any move capable of escalating tensions should be handled with care.
It added that its members are law-abiding citizens who strongly believe in the rule of law and should be allowed to freely express their political views without facing intimidation or prejudice.
The development follows the decision of the Kano State House of Assembly to begin impeachment proceedings against Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo over allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office and breach of public trust.
