“You Can’t Stop Him” – Obidient Movement Reacts to Alleged Threats Against Peter Obi
The Obidient Movement in Nigeria’s North Central zone has issued a warning to individuals allegedly attacking or threatening the life of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The group said attempts to intimidate the former Anambra governor would fail, insisting that Obi would outlive those behind the threats.
The movement made this known in a statement released on Wednesday by its National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko. The statement was titled “Warning to those attacking or threatening Peter Obi.”
According to the group, it had carefully reviewed the recent developments surrounding the incident in Edo State before making its position public.
It said members carried out internal checks and gathered information on what transpired, including the people allegedly involved and possible motives behind the situation.
The movement explained that the delay in speaking out was deliberate. It said members wanted to fully understand the situation before addressing Nigerians.
In the statement, the group cautioned those allegedly behind the threats to reconsider their actions. It warned that continued hostility against the former presidential candidate could provoke unnecessary tension across the country.
The statement reads: “As you must have known what the subject matter is, we also want to let you know that we have taken our time to investigate what happened in Edo State, what led to it, those behind the dastardly act, their subsequent threats, and what is likely their next move.
“That is why we did not rush out with a statement immediately.
“And now, armed with the knowledge and intel of what played out and what is playing out, we, the members of the Obedient Movement of the North Central Zone wish to sound this note of warning to those who have taken it upon themselves to make sure they turn this country into another Somalia by unnecessarily provoking the peace-loving millions of Obedient Movement members worldwide by threatening or attacking the person of our principal, H.E. Mr. Peter Gregory Obi.
“Be it known to you all wishing PO death that just as Trump survived every attack during his campaigns and went ahead to win the presidential election with an unprecedented landslide victory and he is today rescuing the world from the grip of wicked men without conscience like those of you in Nigeria, so shall Peter Gregory Obi outlive all of you and he will go ahead and win the 2027 presidential election with a landslide victory and successfully carry out the mission of rescuing Nigeria from the crime scene which you have turned the country into. That is what the God Most High called him to do and that purpose must be fulfilled.”
The movement further urged Nigerians to maintain peace and avoid actions capable of escalating political tensions. It stressed that Obi remains committed to democratic engagement and peaceful political participation.
