Borno attack: Tinubu orders military to rescue abducted victims

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Nigerian Military to, as a matter of urgency, rescue all the victims abducted during the terrorists’ attack on Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The president while reacting to the killing of an unconfirmed number of soldiers and civilians and the abduction of over 100 victims urged the Military to intensify its efforts towards protecting citizens across communities in the country.

Recall that a Borno lawmaker, Ali Ndume and other residents of the community had confirmed that some terrorists attacked Gwoza LGA on Wednesday, killing several soldiers and local people from the area.

The terrorists were also said to have razed down homes and other properties while abducting over 100 residents, mostly women and children.

However, in a statement released on Friday, by Bayo Onanuga, his special adviser on information and strategy, the president urged the Military and other security agencies to ensure that they prevent further attacks on military formations in the North-East.

Describing the attack on Ngoshe as a “heartless assault on hapless citizens, Tinubu mourned the loss of soldiers and citizens in the attack.

He further commended the military for its swift response to terrorists’ and bandits’ attacks across the nation while stating that efforts by the troops have forced terrorists to retreat.

In addition, he called on the people of Borno state and Nigerians as a whole to remain steadfast in the face of fear and threats by the terrorists.

Consoling the families of victims and the Borno State government, the president also prayed for the repose of the souls of those who died during this attack.
