‘He Came Shaking’ – Pastor Ibiyomie Reveals How He Helped Wike Win Governorship

A popular cleric, David Ibiyeomie, has narrated how he allegedly played a spiritual role in the political rise of the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The founder of Salvation Ministries made the disclosure during a sermon at the church’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.

A video of the message has since circulated widely online, drawing public attention to the pastor’s claims about Wike’s emergence as governor of Rivers State.

Speaking to his congregation, Ibiyeomie said Wike approached him during a tense period when his political future appeared uncertain. At the time, legal battles surrounding the governorship seat had reportedly gone against the politician.

According to the pastor, the situation had reached a critical stage before the final decision of the court.

“Wike lost in the High Court, lost in the Appeal Court and judgement was already passed in the Supreme Court against him not to be governor.

“I called him while I was in Israel, he was shaking but I told him not to fear.

“I told him that God will step in and he said ‘papa I believe you; he was in PDP and APC was in power and we were doing five nights of Glory. After the program, Wike walked up to me, that was on Tuesday and judgement was to be announced on Friday.

“I told him that even if the judgement is against you, I command it turned. He never had money that time because he was in the opposition party that time.

“When the whole thing turned around in his favour he said ‘papa, I knew this is God’. I was the only priest invited during his Thanksgiving”.

The cleric went further to claim that a similar situation occurred when Wike sought a second term as governor. He said the politician again appeared worried about the outcome of the election.

According to him, there were indications that political forces were already planning to stop Wike’s re-election bid.

He said, “Second time when he came, he was to loose the election. They already arranged how to make him lose and somebody walked up to me and said ‘you prayed for Wike, we will see how he wins’.

“Wike was shaking and I covenanted with God. I gave millions to God on behalf of Wike but I didn’t tell him.

“I said Lord, not for his sake but for my sake,” he added.

Wike served two terms as governor of Rivers State from 2015 to 2023 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party before being appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023.
