“Nigeria Will Never Surrender to Terrorists” – President Tinubu Declares

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that Nigeria will not bow to terrorism, insisting that the country remains determined to defeat all threats to its peace and stability.

The President gave the assurance on Monday night while hosting religious and traditional leaders for an interfaith breaking of fast at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The gathering brought together leaders from both the Christian and Muslim communities, alongside traditional rulers from across the country.

Speaking during the event, Tinubu acknowledged that Nigeria was currently facing serious security challenges but maintained that the situation was being confronted head-on by security agencies.

“Yes, we are challenged; the terrorists are very desperate now because they are getting barraged and defeated.

They leave trails of blood in their wake. But I assure you of one thing: Nigeria will never surrender.

“We are not discouraged. We are going to win and win well,”

The President said his administration remained resolute in protecting the sovereignty of the country and preventing criminal elements from destabilising Nigeria.

Tinubu also used the occasion to commend religious and traditional leaders for their role in fostering unity and guiding their communities during difficult times. According to him, their influence remains critical in promoting peace and discouraging violence across the country.

Beyond security matters, the President spoke about the state of the economy. He assured Nigerians that the difficult reforms undertaken by his administration were beginning to yield results.

“I am just grateful, one person among millions, that I have been given the opportunity to serve.

“All I can do is promise that I will continue to be faithful in discharging my duty.

“I can report that the economy has turned the corner. It is getting better. Pensioners are gradually getting relief.”

Tinubu further stated that his government had taken decisive steps to stabilise public finances and prevent economic collapse shortly after assuming office.

“We have saved Nigeria from bankruptcy. It was very daunting and challenging when we took over. But today I can say with pride and joy that we have survived,”

He added that improvements in revenue allocation had helped state governments, noting that many governors were no longer struggling to secure bank loans to pay workers’ salaries.

The President also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding investments in key sectors such as agriculture and education, stressing that such investments were necessary for long-term national development.

He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and supportive of the government’s efforts to build a safer and more prosperous country.

In his remarks, the Yahaya Abubakar thanked the President for bringing together leaders of the two major religions during the holy month. He described the gathering as a strong symbol of unity and prayed for continued peace and stability in the country.

Abubakar represented the Sa’ad Abubakar, who is also President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

Also speaking, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Daniel Okoh, assured the government that the Christian community would continue to support efforts aimed at strengthening the nation’s economy and improving security.

Traditional rulers and religious leaders from the six geopolitical zones of the country were present at the interfaith gathering.
