Bandits Kill Three, Injure 11 in Fresh Attack on Katsina Community — Police

The Police Command in Katsina State has confirmed the death of three persons and injuries to 11 others following an attack by bandits on Jikamashi town in Musawa Local Government Area.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Aliyu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Katsina.

According to him, the incident occurred on March 10 at about 6:05 p.m., when the Musawa Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call reporting that suspected bandits armed with dangerous weapons had attacked Jikamashi village in Musawa LGA.

He explained that the attackers had already injured several residents before security operatives arrived at the scene.

“They injured 14 persons before the arrival of security agencies,” he said.

Abubakar stated that upon receiving the report, a joint team of security personnel, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Musawa, was immediately mobilised to the area.

“The team engaged the bandits in a gun duel and successfully foiled the attack,” he said.

He added that the injured victims were quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“Unfortunately, three of the injured victims were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, while the remaining 11 are responding to treatment,” he said.

The police spokesman further revealed that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Bello Shehu, has condemned the attack and ordered a thorough investigation to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice.
