VIDEO: Govt Knows Identities of Terrorists Operating in Nigeria but Fails to Act — Sowore

Former presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore has alleged that the Nigerian government and security agencies are fully aware of the identities of terrorists operating in the country but have failed to take decisive action against them.
Speaking in an interview on Thursday, Sowore claimed that authorities maintain communication channels with terrorist groups and can track their activities, yet have not eliminated them.
“There’s no major terrorist, and there’s no major criminal in Nigeria that is not known to security agencies,” he said.
“Whenever there’s mass kidnapping, why do you think the government is able to hear from the terrorists? Because they have their phone numbers.
“If they want to wipe out the terrorists today, they know where to get them and wipe them out. They know it,” Sowore said.
Sowore also suggested that some government officials have direct contacts with criminal groups, allowing terrorists to operate in certain areas with relative freedom. He alleged that these connections help authorities receive information about mass kidnappings and other crimes.
He added that while some terrorists may appear bold in their actions, the government is fully aware of their whereabouts and networks.
The activist used the opportunity to defend controversial Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi, describing him as intelligent and strategic, despite criticisms of his methods.
“Sheikh Gumi is not a foolish man as people think; he is actually very smart,” Sowore said.
According to him, he had previously met the cleric and maintained that his opinion about Gumi’s intelligence has remained unchanged over time.
“I’ve seen Gumi before, and he remembers exactly what I said, that he’s not a foolish man as people think he is. He’s actually a smart person. He might be smart for different reasons, and he might be egregious in his ways,” he stated.
