Peter Obi Donates ₦10 Million to School in Anambra to Improve Learning [PHOTOS]

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has donated ₦10 million to Western Academy, Umueze Anam, in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State, as part of his ongoing support for the development of education in the country.

Obi announced the donation in a post shared on his official X account, explaining that the contribution was intended to improve the learning environment for students at the school.

According to him, he visited the rural community on Friday to see the school firsthand and interact with both students and staff.

The former Anambra State governor noted that the institution, which began operations about three years ago, currently conducts classes in local church buildings being used as temporary classrooms.

In continuation of my support for educational facilities, yesterday, Friday the 13th, I visited a school in a rural community, Western Academy, Umueze Anam, in Anambra West,” Obi wrote.

The school, which commenced about three years ago, currently uses local church facilities as classrooms. They welcomed me warmly and shared their dreams and ambitions.”

He explained that the ₦10 million donation was made to support the school’s planned infrastructure development for both its primary and secondary sections.

During the visit, and in support of efforts to improve learning facilities, I donated ₦10 million towards the school’s planned infrastructure development, covering both its primary and secondary arms,” he added.

Obi expressed hope that the donation would help create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

My hope is that this contribution will help create a better environment for teaching and learning, and enable the students to thrive,” he said.

He also encouraged the students to remain committed to their studies, stressing that education remains a vital pathway to success.

I encouraged the students to take their studies seriously, reminding them that education opens the door to limitless opportunities. With hard work and determination, they can compete with anyone, anywhere, and go on to become successful in life,” Obi stated.
