JUST IN: Former FCT senator Philip Aduda resigns from PDP

A former lawmaker who represented the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the Nigerian Senate, Philip Aduda has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Aduda announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the party leadership in his ward in Karu, FCT.
A strong ally of Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the FCT, Aduda in the letter dated March 17, said he resigned his membership with the PDP over the long-standing crisis which has rocked the party.
He also expressed his appreciation to the PDP, its membership and leaders for the support he received throughout his political career.
According to Aduda, the party provided him with the platform to serve his people in various elective positions.
While the former lawmaker did not State which party he would be joining, associates and political analysts predict that Aduda would be pitching his tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aduda, since losing the election, has also been working closely with the FCT minister in an unofficial capacity.
In 2023, the former lawmaker lost his seat to Ireti Kingibe, the Senator representing FCT at the 11th Senate under the platform of the Labour Party.
Although Kingibe has defected to the coalition party, she has continued to face a series of political threats from the current FCT minister, who has vowed that he would ensure that the lawmaker does not return to the Senate.
Wike, in his defence, accused Kingibe of failing to live up to her responsiblity as the lawmaker representing the people of the FCT.
