Kwankwaso reacts to Multiple explosions in Maiduguri

A former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso has condemned the recent multiple bomb explosions that rocked Maiduguri on Monday.
In a statement released on Tuesday, March 17, the former governor and leader of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) expressed sadness over the incident suspected to have been carried out by terrorist groups.
He said, “I am deeply saddened by the horrific multiple suicide bombings in Maiduguri, Borno State, which claimed the lives of 23 innocent people and injured over 100 others, as confirmed by the Nigeria Police Force.”
Describing the attacks as senseless, Kwankwaso said these acts of terrorism threaten the peace which, communities in the state and the region have struggled to reclaim.
Noting that now is not the time for complacency on the part of relevant government agencies, the former governor said soldiers on the frontline must be equipped to decisively tackle the enemies.
“These latest attacks, following other recent incidents in Borno signal a disturbing resurgence of senseless terrorism that threatens the peace our communities have struggled so hard to rebuild after years of relative calm. This cannot be tolerated.
“Now is not the time for defensiveness or complacency. Our gallant armed forces must be fully empowered to take decisive, proactive action against these enemies of Nigeria. The Federal and State governments must leave no stone unturned in providing all necessary resources and support to enable our troops to decisively defeat these terrorist networks,” Kwankwaso said.
He also commiserated with the families and loved ones of the victims of the explosion while extendingbhis condolence to the Borno State government over the attack.
“My heart goes out to the bereaved families, the injured, and all the people of Borno State. I extend my deepest condolences to the government, and the citizens of Borno during this difficult time,” he said.
