2027: ‘We Want to Hear About Tinubu’s Mandate Renewal’ — APC Chieftain Tells Supporters

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Prince Emmanuel Odigie, has called on supporters of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to begin shifting their political message toward a possible second term ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said the current administration is already moving toward the latter phase of its mandate, and conversations should now focus on why Nigerians should consider renewing it.

Odigie made the remarks on Thursday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he also spoke on the President’s recent trip to the United Kingdom.

He described the visit as timely and beneficial. He said such engagements could strengthen Nigeria’s international ties if properly managed. He added that the real value of such trips lies in economic outcomes, not optics.

According to him, foreign visits must lead to investments and real partnerships that impact the local economy. He warned against a situation where agreements are signed and later abandoned.

He stressed that memoranda of understanding should not be left on paper. He said implementation must be swift and visible.

Odigie also noted that as the current tenure progresses, Nigerians will begin to demand more accountability from the government. He said citizens would want to see clear results and measurable progress across key sectors.

He said: “I think the President’s visit to the United Kingdom is a welcome development, and it’s our hope that they are able to facilitate good bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, not just the fun fair.

“They should be able to attract investment home. You know, such visits are always a plus for Nigeria, if well managed, and not just the fun fair, not just have an agreement, come back home and dump the agreement on the shelf. We want to see MoUs signed and work, they should hit the ground running right away.

“You know, for me, Nigerians singing ‘On Your Mandate We stand’, the mandate is almost coming to an end. They should begin to sing, you know, the renewal of the mandate.

“Mandate renewal is what we want to hear. The mandate that was given in 2023 is almost expiring. So we want to hear more about how, what has been done, and why Nigerians should renew his mandate.”

He maintained that political messaging going forward must reflect performance and future plans. He said Nigerians will not rely on slogans alone but will look at evidence of governance.
