ADC Must Manage Interests, Stay United After Primaries – Rhodes-Vivour

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has urged members of the party to remain united after its primary election.
Rhodes-Vivour made the appeal on Friday during an interview where he disclosed that the ADC currently has about two million registered members, adding that efforts are ongoing to expand the party’s membership base.
The former Lagos State governorship candidate under the Labour Party noted that the party cannot ignore the presence of diverse interests among aspirants seeking the presidential ticket, each backed by passionate supporters.
According to him, the party must carefully manage these interests and emotions while encouraging members to focus on the broader goal.
“I’m not going to undermine the process through which a presidential candidate will emerge. There are many supporters who are genuinely passionate about the candidates they support.
“It’s not always about financial inducement; people truly believe in their choices. As a party, we must manage these emotions alongside the realities of politics.
“This requires proper messaging, not just from the party leadership but also from leading aspirants, to help everyone see the bigger picture. There is no point criticising the situation in the country and then walking away simply because your preferred candidate does not emerge.
“Everyone must come together as a united opposition. We saw what happened in the last elections, and that lesson must guide us going forward,” he said.
