“I’ll Do the Will of Bauchi People” — Gov Bala Speaks amid APC Defection Rumours

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has said his political decisions will be guided by the wishes of the people, amid growing rumours of a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor made this known shortly after Eid prayers marking the end of the Ramadan fast, where he addressed journalists on the current political climate in the state and within his party.

He stated clearly that he remains a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite the internal challenges facing the opposition party.

The governor dismissed reports suggesting that he had concluded plans to leave the PDP, describing such claims as false and without any basis.

A confident Bala Mohammed said he would not take any political step that goes against the interest of the people of Bauchi State. According to him, leadership must reflect the collective will of the citizens, not personal ambition or pressure from political groups.

Speaking further, the governor acknowledged the ongoing issues within the PDP but insisted they are temporary and can be resolved. He expressed optimism that party leaders would come together to address the situation through honest discussions and strategic decisions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, “We are where we are today. Politics is dynamic, but we must be strategic in playing it to the advantage of the teeming supporters and party members.”

Bala Mohammed stressed that politics should not be driven by desperation for power but by clear vision and integrity. He maintained that the people of Bauchi are politically conscious and cannot be easily deceived by rumours or propaganda.

He also cautioned politicians in the state against engaging in divisive politics that could create tension. He urged them to focus on unity, peaceful engagement, and healthy competition as preparations for the next election cycle begin.

According to Bala Mohammed, “This is a State with a rich democratic history. We must not engage in politics of hostility. Power comes from God, and the people will always decide.”

The governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance. He noted that the political environment in Bauchi remains open, allowing opposition voices to operate freely without intimidation.

He reaffirmed his promise to lead with transparency and accountability. He said he would not betray the trust reposed in him by the people of the state.

Addressing young people, the governor assured them of continued support and opportunities to participate in politics. He said his administration remains committed to nurturing emerging leaders and giving them a platform to grow.

On security and development, Bala Mohammed admitted that challenges still exist. However, he said his government is focused on improving the situation through careful management of resources and sustained development efforts.

He called on residents to support security agencies and remain vigilant, stressing that peace and stability are necessary for progress in the state.
