IGP Disu decorates 13 AIGs, 17 CPs after promotion of 84 senior officers

IGP Tunji Disu has decorated 30 senior officers recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP).

The decoration ceremony took place at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, in Abuja.

The event followed the recent promotion of 84 senior officers across different ranks in the force.

The promotions include 13 officers elevated to the rank of AIG and 17 promoted to CP. Fifty-four Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were also elevated.

Disu said the promotions recognise merit, discipline and professional capacity among the officers. He said the elevation of the officers is aimed at strengthening leadership within the police force.

The IGP urged the newly decorated officers to demonstrate exemplary leadership and maintain zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption and dereliction of duty.

Disu reiterated his commitment to people-oriented policing in the country, adding that respect for human rights and active community engagement remain key operational principles of the force.

The police chief also announced that the newly promoted AIGs will participate in a strategic leadership retreat which will begin on Tuesday.

The programme is being organised in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Disu said the retreat is aimed at strengthening transformational leadership and modern policing ethics among senior officers of the force.
