Osun 2026 Election: Oyebamiji, Adeleke Clash Over Alleged Tinubu Support

Supporters of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and allies of APC candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji trade words over alleged backing from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The disagreement follows claims in some political circles that the President may be quietly supporting Adeleke’s re-election bid.

However, the claims have been strongly rejected by pro-APC groups in the state.

The AMBO Media Fronts, a group backing Oyebamiji, dismissed the reports and described them as “false and misleading.”

In a statement issued by its coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, the group insisted that “the President would not support the re-election of the incumbent governor.”

The group maintained that Oyebamiji remains a committed member of the All Progressives Congress and has consistently demonstrated loyalty to the party. It pointed to his past role at the National Inland Waterways Authority as proof of his administrative strength and readiness for leadership.

The pro-Oyebamiji camp also raised concerns about governance under Adeleke. It questioned certain state policies, especially in the area of education funding, and alleged that some projects initiated by the current administration lack proper execution.

In a swift response, the Accord Media Centre, which is aligned with Governor Adeleke, pushed back against the claims. The group defended the governor’s record and highlighted what it described as his growing acceptance among the people of the state.

The Adeleke camp also took aim at former governor Adegboyega Oyetola and Oyebamiji. It accused both men of engaging in actions capable of embarrassing the President and worsening internal divisions within the APC.

According to the group, the conduct of some APC leaders in the state has been “divisive and cantankerous,” adding that such actions are weakening unity within the party.

It further alleged that internal disputes and the imposition of candidates have left several party members dissatisfied.

The statement added that many supporters of President Tinubu in Osun have moved beyond party conflicts and are now aligning with what it called “the will of the people.”

It also claimed that Governor Adeleke enjoys strong grassroots support across key groups, including workers, artisans, students and farmers.

The group said available political assessments show that the governor remains a major contender in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The Accord Media Centre urged Oyetola and Oyebamiji to “refrain from conduct that could portray the President in a negative light,” warning that such actions could further deepen political tensions in the state.
