‘We Will Not Relent’ — Nigerian Air Force Vows Continuous Strikes Against Terrorists

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has declared that it will not back down in its ongoing battle against terrorists and criminal groups operating across the country.
The military authority said it is ready to intensify its air campaigns, with a clear focus on dismantling the activities of insurgents and restoring stability in troubled regions.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this position was made known in a statement released on Monday via the official X account of the force.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, gave the assurance while hosting troops under Operation WHIRL STROKE at an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon held in Makurdi, Benue State.
Speaking through the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the CAS praised the troops for their commitment on the frontlines.
He expressed “profound appreciation for the courage, discipline and sacrifices of personnel deployed within the theatre,” noting that their efforts continue to make a difference in ongoing operations.
Reaffirming the force’s strategy, he stated that the NAF “remains resolute in prosecuting intelligence-driven air campaigns designed to degrade the operational capabilities of terrorists and criminal networks.”
According to him, the Air Force will continue to rely on precise and coordinated attacks to weaken enemy positions.
He further explained that the service has maintained “precision strikes, close air support and armed reconnaissance missions in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies.”
These coordinated efforts, he said, “have significantly disrupted adversary logistics, command structures and freedom of movement,” limiting the ability of armed groups to operate effectively.
The CAS linked recent successes in various theatres of operation to the dedication of personnel. He said the progress recorded so far is a direct result of “the professionalism, determination and joint operational synergy demonstrated by personnel on the frontlines.”
Earlier in his remarks, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal MC Ekwueme, commended officers and airmen for their resilience.
He highlighted their “dedication and high morale,” while urging them to maintain focus and unity in the face of evolving security threats across the country.
Also speaking, the Air Component Commander, Wing Commander OO Evulobi, acknowledged the leadership of the Air Force and the role of collaboration in achieving results. He appreciated “the continued support of the Chief of the Air Staff and the collective efforts of all stakeholders in advancing operational success.”
The Air Force leadership also pointed to ongoing improvements within the service. The CAS highlighted “ongoing investments in modern air platforms, advanced training and enhanced welfare initiatives,” stressing that these steps are necessary to strengthen operational efficiency and boost troop morale.
He charged personnel to remain alert and committed to duty, urging them to stay “vigilant, disciplined and resolute in sustaining efforts towards achieving lasting peace, stability and national prosperity.”
