Convention: APC aspirants complaining about forms want to create confusion – Ex-governor Masari

Rt. Hon. Aminu Masari, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention central coordination committee, says members complaining about alleged denial of access to nomination forms ahead of the party’s national convention are attempting to destabilise the ruling party.
Masari spoke on Thursday in Abuja during the APC world media briefing ahead of the party’s eighth national convention.
The former governor of Katsina state said the APC followed its zoning arrangement in the sale of nomination forms, adding that aspirants were only allowed to obtain forms for positions allocated to their zones.
Masari, a former House of Representatives Speaker, said: “APC is a responsible Nigerian party. In line with federal character, all offices are zoned. People who came to buy forms for positions zoned to their zones were sold forms.
“But when they say zoning is in Zone A and you are in Zone B, yet you try to buy a form in Zone A, we suspect you are only there to create confusion.
“Who would want confusion? Let us understand the way our country is. The structures of the party are based on zoning, and the working committee members are also distributed according to zones.
“So, if you are contesting a position that has not been zoned to your zone, how can you claim you have been treated democratically?
“We suspect these kinds of people may be agents interested in destabilizing our party. We will not agree to that, and I don’t think any responsible Nigerian will.”
Masari said the party was not aware of any lawsuit over the nomination forms, adding that no one has gone to court as far they know.
“Regarding this issue, we are not aware that anybody has gone to court. We have not been served, and I am sure we are a responsible party. If we are served, we will take notice of it,” he stated.
