BREAKING: Kano Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo Resigns

The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, has reportedly resigned from office, according to a statement issued by the Kwankwasiyya Movement, although the state government is yet to officially confirm the development.

In the statement signed by its spokesperson, Dr Habibu Sale Mohammed, the group said the decision was reached after careful consideration and in the interest of preserving stability in the state’s governance.

It noted that prevailing circumstances had hindered the deputy governor from effectively discharging the full scope of his responsibilities.

“This decision, though difficult, has been taken in the overall interest of the people and the stability of governance in Kano State,” the statement read.

The report comes amid allegations levelled against the deputy governor by the Kano State House of Assembly.

However, the movement emphasised that his resignation should not be seen as an admission of guilt.

“The Deputy Governor maintains his innocence and firmly believes that his record in office and public service remains a testament to his integrity and commitment to the people,” the statement added.

The group further revealed that the former deputy governor plans to focus on strengthening the Kwankwasiyya Movement, particularly in terms of restructuring and strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Government has not issued any official confirmation or response regarding the reported resignation.
