“I never met Atiku in Saudi Arabia” – Nasarawa Gov Sule denies supporting former VP

The governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule has broken his silence after a media report claimed he was secretly supporting and funding former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential election ambition.

According to the report, Governor Sule had pledged huge financial support to Atiku with the aim of the latter defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, the governor also denied claims that he secretly met with the two-time presidential candidate during the lesser Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Addra describing the report as “a complete fabrication, false in its entirety, and did not happen”, said Sule never held any meeting with Atiju or his associates.

He also said that the governor has always been a strong supporter of President Tinubu and has been consistent in using available platforms to extol the leadership qualities of the current administration.

Addra further alleged that some political actors are responsible for spreading such lies to sabotage the relationship between the president and the governor.

Also expressing confidence that their plot would fail, Addra said all governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are solidly behind the president’s re-election bid and no false narrative would alter their support.
