ADC Chairman David Mark’s Daughter Declares Support for Tinubu’s Re-Election

A fresh twist has emerged in Nigeria’s early 2027 political calculations as Hon. Blessing Onuh, a serving member of the House of Representatives, openly declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The lawmaker, who is also the daughter of African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman, Senator David Mark, has now taken up a strategic role in a pro-Tinubu campaign structure.
Her decision comes at a sensitive time in the country’s political space. It places a close family member of a leading opposition figure within the camp working to return the President for a second term.
Onuh was formally unveiled as the National Woman Leader of the Take Action Campaign Organisation. The announcement was made on Saturday in Abuja by the group’s Director General, Tony Nwulu, a former federal lawmaker known for sponsoring the “Not Too Young To Run” bill during his time in the National Assembly. Her appointment letter was presented at the organisation’s campaign office.
Speaking shortly after, Onuh made her position clear. “I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure President Tinubu’s victory at the upcoming election,” she said. Her words signaled a firm commitment to the President’s political future, despite her father’s prominent role in the opposition.
She also explained the focus of the campaign group. According to her, “This organisation is focused on showcasing the various achievements and educating the Nigerian masses on the reforms and policies of Mr President.” The group is expected to mobilise support across different regions, especially among women and grassroots voters.
Her new role places her at the center of efforts to promote Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. It also raises questions about how the ADC leadership will manage internal perceptions, given that Senator David Mark remains deeply involved in building a coalition aimed at challenging the President in 2027.
The opposition coalition, still in its early stages, includes several high-profile political figures. Among them are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other influential politicians across party lines. However, the alliance has continued to face internal disagreements and competing interests, slowing down its ability to present a united front.
Recent developments suggest cracks within the opposition ranks. Earlier in the year, Abba Abubakar, son of Atiku Abubakar, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He openly declared support for President Tinubu and called on his supporters to do the same. That move had already raised concerns about loyalty within the coalition.
Onuh’s latest alignment, though not a formal defection, carries strong political weight. It reflects the growing pressure on opposition figures and their associates as the ruling party consolidates its influence ahead of the next election cycle.
Meanwhile, Tony Nwulu reiterated that the Take Action Campaign Organisation will focus on promoting the administration’s achievements.
He said the group will also engage Nigerians at all levels, explaining government policies and building wider acceptance of the President’s reforms.
