JUST IN: VP Shettima visits former Gov El-Rufai over mother’s death [PHOTO]

The Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday, March 30, visited the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai at his Abuja residence.

Shettima was at El-Rufai’s residence to commiserate with him on the passing of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.

Hajiya Umma who died on Friday, March 27, in Cairo, Egypt was buried in Abuja on Sunday, March 29, with several dignitaries, including the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi; Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; former Minister of Communication, Isa Pantami among many others.

In a video post made on X, Stanley Nkwocha, a media aide to the vice president said Shettima visited El-Rufai to personally condoled with the former governor.

Nkwocha said during the visit, the vice president described the late Haijya Umma as a woman of great virtue and a pillar of strength for the El-Rufai family.

He wrote, “Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived at the Abuja residence of the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, to personally offer his condolences following the passing of the former governor’s mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.

“Hajiya Umma passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday after a brief illness at an advanced age.

“During the visit, VP Shettima described the deceased as a woman of great virtue and a pillar of strength for her family. He offered prayers for the repose of her soul and for the El-Rufai family to find the strength to navigate this difficult period of mourning,” Nkwocha said.
