2027: Kenneth Okonkwo, Igbo group visits Atiku [PHOTOS]

In what appears to be a move towards the preparations for the 2027 general elections across Nigeria, a Nollywood actor and lawyer Kenneth Okonkwo visited former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at his residence.

Okonkwo, an ally of Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party visited Atiku alongside members of the Enugu Polling Booths vanguard for Atiku.

In a post made on X, Atiku said he received a team who are mostly concerned about the sanctity of the ballot at the forthcoming election.

He added that the team led by Obodoeze Ocho believe that every vote cast at the polls in the 2027 general elections must count.

Atiku said, “This afternoon, I received the Enugu Polling Booths Vanguard for Atiku, a group chiefly concerned with the sanctity of the ballots, led by Chief Obodoeze Ocho.

“They believe that every vote must count in 2027. I fully agree with them that protecting votes at the Polling Units level is vital for the coming elections,” Atiku noted.

He also stated that he informed the group that for Nigeria to get experience credible elections, the citizens must take it upon themselves to safeguard their votes.

“I told them that, for us to have credible elections that earn voters’ trust, citizens must take the responsibility of safeguarding votes seriously. Votes will count if they are protected by those who cast them,” Atiku added.
