NEMA Delivers Relief Materials to Plateau Govt for Victims of Deadly Jos Attack

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has handed over relief materials to the Plateau State Government for immediate distribution to victims of the deadly gunmen attack in Angwan Rukuba, located in Jos North Local Government Area.

The intervention is aimed at providing urgent support to affected residents, helping them rebuild their lives and return to normal activities following the tragic incident on Palm Sunday.

NEMA’s Director-General, Zubaida Umar, represented by the North Central Zonal Coordinator, Mr Adebiyi B. Razaq, presented the items at the Old Government House in Rayfield, Jos.

Umar explained that the Federal Government approved the relief materials after a thorough assessment conducted by NEMA’s Operations Office in Jos.

The items include 1,000 bags of 25kg rice, 300 bags of 25kg beans, 165 cartons of spaghetti (20 packets of 500g each), 100 cartons of vegetable oil (5 litres x 4), 100 cartons of seasoning cubes, 100 bags of tomato paste (50 sachets each), and 80 bags of 20kg iodised salt.

Other supplies include 50 cartons of detergent, 100 dignity kits, 100 pieces of wax print (6 yards), 200 pieces of Guinea brocade, 200 foam mattresses, and medical items such as silver sulphadiazine cream and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid 625mg.

Receiving the materials, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, assured that the items would be distributed promptly and transparently to those affected.

He commended NEMA for its swift intervention and highlighted the strong collaboration between the agency and the state government.

“It is the responsibility of government to support vulnerable citizens so they can rebuild their lives. We appreciate the Director-General for this assistance and assure that all items will be properly managed and delivered to the rightful beneficiaries,” the governor said.

The relief effort follows the recent Angwan Rukuba attack, which left several people dead and many others injured.
